A report from the Mayo Clinic Health Newsletter crossed our path today, with a few surprising causes for that bloated belly that we wanted to share.

We know, when you feel bloated one of the last things you want to do is head to the gym, but exercising is exactly what you need to do.  If you just can’t bare to go in public — or it’s not the right time for the 5:30 p.m. Dance Fitness Classes at The Belly Dance Studio — grab your smartphone and dial up Pandora’s BElly Dance Music Channel.  Dance, move, shimmy and have fun!  It will work out that gassiness that you are feeling.


Here’s some food tips – and some surprised us:

* Pass on the milk – The sugar lactose that is found in dairy can cause digestion problems.  Get your calcium daily from aged cheeses or yogurt.  Many people have an easier time with these dairy products.


* Pass on the diet soda – Yep, those tiny bubbles can give you bubbles too…. AND many of the artificial sweeteners can bloat you as well. (surprised? we were)


* High Fat Foods Are A NO-GO!  High -fat foods, creamy sauces and gravies as well as fried foods can cause tummy issues too.  Watch your occasional indulgences —- they can trigger BIG problems.
